6th grade Language Arts:

7th grade Language Arts: Language Arts is a composition course that provides the opportunity to learn and apply skills using the writing process and the 6+1 Traits of Writing. The 7th grade writing curriculum focuses on three major genre studies (biographical narrative, letter writing, cause/effect essay) and employs choice through the writing workshop. Students will also be preparing and giving speeches as well as sharing and evaluating written work in an oral capacity. Instruction in vocabulary, spelling, grammar, usage, mechanics and fluency is integrated throughout the year. Although Language Arts focuses on writing and speaking, this class is closely tied to the 7th grade Literacy courses.

8th grade Language Arts:
