This is a trimester (12 week) class during which the student will be exploring the wonderful, interesting world of foreign languages. Your student will find this class to be informative and challenging. Your student will be learning a variety of simple listening and speaking situations from several languages. The languages which are included in the course are: Italian, Spanish, French, German, Latin and Japanese.  Please note that the timeline for completion will be expressed in terms of weeks.

7th Grade Exploration

In the 7th grade, students continue learning the Spanish language and cultural elements of the Spanish-speaking world.  Students will continue to read, write, and speak Spanish.  We will focus on the culture and traditions of Spain.  A variety of activities such as games, videos, cooking, and research projects will help expand students’ knowledge of the language and country.  This course helps provide a stronger base in Spanish so students may become successful in the 8th grade, year-long Spanish course offered.

8th Grade Spanish Level 1

An exciting opportunity to learn a Foreign Language in depth is offered to students in the 8th grade.  Students who choose this class will be taking Spanish for the entire year.  If they pass a placement test at the end of the year, they may advance to second year Spanish at the high school.  This first year course will allow students to develop skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking.  Students will learn the fundamental elements of grammar, sentence structure, and vocabulary acquisition.  Students will also explore cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world to better appreciate values and traditions of other countries.
