Music Department

Band Technique 6 is a class in which students will learn to play wind or percussion instruments. Participation is required for concerts. Students must provide their own instruments with the exception of larger and/or very expensive instruments such as tuba, baritone, french horn, bass clarinet. Instruments can be rented from any music store for approximately $15-30 per month.

String Orchestra 6 is a class in which students learn to play violin, viola, cello, or bass. Participation is required at concerts. Instruments are available. Students are placed at the appropriate level by the teacher.

Choir 7 is a vocal music class which incorporates music reading techniques, singing, and performance techniques through a variety of musical styles. There will be a minimum of two evening concerts per year, and attendance at all concerts is required.

Intermediate Band is a class which students will learn to play brass, wind or percussion instruments. Participation is required for concerts. Students must provide their own instruments with the exception of larger and/or expensive instruments such as tuba, baritone, french horn, bass clarinet. Instruments can be rented at music stores for approximately $15-30 per month. At least one full year's instruction in band is a prerequisite for this class.

Concert Orchestra is a class in which students continue to play violin, viola, cello, or bass. Participation is required at concerts. Instruments are available.

Choir 8 is a vocal music class which incorporates music reading techniques, singing, and performance techniques through a variety of musical styles. There will be a minimum of two evening concerts per year and attendance at all concerts is required.

Students must provide their own instruments with the exception of larger and/or very expensive instruments such as tuba, baritone, french horn, bass clarinet. Instruments can be rented at music stores for approximately $15-30 per month. At least 2 full year's instruction in band is a prerequisite for this class.

Chamber Orchestra is for students who have played a violin, viola, cello or bass for at least one year. Some instruments are provided. Participation at concerts is required. Students are placed at the appropriate level by music teacher.
